Walter Becker Obituary

WALTER CARL BECKER III, of West Chester PA, died at his home on Sunday, May 27, 2007, after a year-long battle with brain cancer. He was 51 years old. Known to most people as Charlie, he was born in Wilmington DE, the son of Walter C. Becker Jr. and Mae Eleanor Reese, and grew up in Kennett Square PA, where his father and grandfather owned and operated Walbeck Foods. He graduated from Kennett High School in 1973.

Before his illness he worked as a product support specialist for Rumsey Electric in New Castle DE. He was an avid fan of sports, gardening, and numerous do-it-yourself home projects. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by Tina Herrman Becker, his wife of more than 31 years; by his son, Jeffrey, and daughter-in-law Hilary of Carrboro NC; by his daughter Erin of Brighton MA; and by his sisters, Karol MacFadden of Malvern PA and Kathy Rowan of West Chester; as well as a niece and 3 nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service, 12 Noon, Friday, June 1, 2007, at DELLAVECCHIA, REILLY, SMITH & BOYD FUNERAL HOME INC., 410 N.
